Boston Celtics Avery Bradley Is The Reason Boston Can Overtake Miami

By Rob Nelson

Watching the NBA playoffs and the way they are unfolding as a Boston Celtics fan, I truly believe a couple of quick thoughts that I had are a hundred percent fact. The first thought is the obvious that the NBA is handing LeBron James a ring with the most gifted officiating that should make people like Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, and Magic Johnson puke at the way this man is handed an NBA title while they earned theirs with true masterful play. The other is Miami with the right parts can be beat even with the three officials in their pocket. The key piece is a guy on Boston’s roster. The piece is of course Avery Bradley.

Bradley is a piece that allows the defense to be truly able to shut down Miami’s star powered attack. Bradley is an extremely rare on the ball defender that is able to make Dwayne Wade vanish by himself. By making Wade vanish without a lot of help, a defense can key in on LeBron James and the rest of the misfit toys that surround him. In Boston’s case this allows Paul Pierce to get help on LeBron and make him work very hard for his offense. Aside from doubling the rest of the defenders only have to watch out for the three point line with streaky shooters like Mike Miller, Shane Battier, James Jones, and Mario Chalmers as the only hope for a Miami offense. Of course it helps that Boston also has a guy in KG that when only charged with defending Chris Bosh can make him go away as effectively as Bradley can make Wade vanish, but stopping Wade is more important than Bosh for defense of Miami’s attack.

Let me put a guy like Bradley on the OKC Thunder and look at how different this series is. Even with awful officials in Miami’s pocket, the Thunder win games in this series. Bradley locks down Wade. Serge Ibaka can then lock down Bosh. This would allow help for Kevin Durant on LeBum..oops LeBron by having a guy like Kendrick Perkins waiting for LeBron in the paint. This means fewer fouls by Durant because he would not be so worried about keeping him in front of him. Guys like Russell Westbrook and the rest of the perimeter players would be free to shut down the three point line.

The bottom line is the Miami Heat are far from a perfect team. In my mind if they were not gifted calls they would not even be sniffing an NBA title, but we all know the “Evil” David Stern needs to keep his cash cow going and wants to create another Jordan like character in the worst way and foolishly he wants LeBum..oops LeBron to be that guy. This means plan on them getting knocked off early next year provided a team like Boston has the pieces in place. Remember Go Green or Go Home!!!!!!
