With the 2012 NBA Draft just a week away, the time is ripe for a 2012 NBA mock draft. There a lot of options for the top five picks, but we have done our best to mock out the top five picks to fit in with the respective team’s needs.
1. New Orleans Hornets – Anthony Davis, Kentucky
If the Hornets do not take Davis with the first pick, there is something wrong. He is by far the best player in the draft and has a chance to become a next generation Kevin Garnett. I do not think the Hornets would be upset if that came to fruition.
2. Charlotte Bobcats – Thomas Robinson, Kansas
Robinson is going to be a good player in the league. Not a great one, but a good one. He fills a need for the team and should help them improve on their ghastly season last year. I expect him to start from day one and be a key piece in their rebuild.
3. Washington Wizards – Bradley Beal, Florida
The Wizards desperately need a shooting guard and Beal is the best one in the draft. Sounds like a match made in basketball heaven. He will stretch the floor for John Wall and get a lot of open shots as the Wizards make a push for the playoffs.
4. Cleveland Cavaliers – Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Kentucky
MKG is the perfect glue guy and running mate to play alongside of Kyrie Irving. Watching those two on the fast break is going to be a treat for years to come. MKG brings a lot to the table without taking anything off. Perfect guy for almost every team.
5. Sacramento Kings - Harrison Barnes, North Carolina
Barnes never set the world on fire in college, but he is going to be a solid player in the pros. He fills a need for the Kings, but they could go a lot of different ways with this pick. Don’t rule out a trade either. This is where the draft could get wacky.
And there you have it as that completes our coverage of the top five picks in our 2012 NBA mock draft. Agree? Disagree? Let us know in the comments.
