Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder were just not ready to take on the Miami Heat in the 2012 NBA Finals. They looked like they could win the title, but it was shown that they were just too young and inexperienced.
Outside of Game 1, Kevin Durant did not look like himself for an entire game. To say the pressure got to him might be a cop out, but he just did not look comfortable at the end of games. He struggled mightily down the stretch of Games 2-4. He couldn’t have done anything about Game 5 unless he hit LeBron James with a chair.
However, he has to learn to step up his game when all the pressure is on. This loss can only mean good things. Look at what it did for the Heat last season. They got slapped around in the Finals. They did not mope about it. They used it as fuel to make a push to become champions. That is what the Thunder need to do.
Kevin Durant has to be the guy who sets the example. Once the season ends, there is not much time for self pity. You have to get back in the gym and work on your game. If Durant can get a bit stronger, it will do wonders for his game. Too often he was bumped off his spot in the Finals, which affected his entire game.
The future is still bright for Kevin Durant and the Thunder. This loss will only benefit them in the future.
