NBA Rumors: Dwight Howard Will Not Sign Extension With Houston Rockets If Traded There

The latest round of NBA rumors is certainly full of Dwight Howard talk.  The Orlando Magic center figures to get traded very soon and the Houston Rockets have emerged as an unlikely suitor.  However, D12 in Houston would not last very long.

Amid a report that stated the Houston Rockets are hoping to amass enough trade assets to make a deal with the Orlando Magic for Dwight Howard–even though Howard would only be in Houston for one season before becoming an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2013 — a source with knowledge of Howard’s thinking said Monday that there was “not a chance” Howard would be persuaded to remain in Houston if traded there, and would leave next summer to sign elsewhere.

This move is not really shocking.  Dwight Howard has no idea what he wants, but I doubt Houston has ever been on his list of teams.  It would be an extremely risky move for Houston, but they could start completely over if Dwight leaves.  It might hurt the team in the short term to help in the long term.  Not exactly a bad thing if you look at it.

Dwight Howard and the NBA rumors surrounding him are not going to go away anytime soon.  He should be traded by the draft, just to save us the headache of having to listen to speculation about him.  If the Magic have their way, Howard will be gone by Thursday.  I hope so too.
