NBA Rumors: Los Angeles Lakers Attempting To Trade Pau Gasol For Lottery Pick

There have been fake NBA rumors floating on the interwebs about Pau Gasol and the Los Angeles Lakers.  Apparently, there are some actual NBA rumors too.  The Lakers are interested in moving Gasol, but they would need an established player and a top 10 pick in the 2012 NBA Draft.

Personally, I think Gasol gets too much flak from the Lakers and most of their insane fanbase.  That is what happens when you win titles.  People expect too much.  If you think Pau Gasol is going to be a great power forward with a consistent jumper, that is your issue.  Gasol is a center, but could not play that due to Andrew Bynum holding down the fort.  Not a lot of chance to play in the post with him in there.

If you can move Gasol onto a team that needs a center, he is going to be just fine.  I am pretty sure that he was not a fan of playing with Kobe Bryant, so a change of scenery would be best for everyone involved.  I think the chances of a trade going through are pretty low, but it is something worth keeping an eye on.

Unless Dwight Howard gets moved, I think Gasol is probably the best piece available, but it is going to take a combination of things that not a lot of teams have.  If you are picking in the top 10 of the draft, you probably do not have a guy you can give away to get Gasol.
