2012 NBA Draft: New Orleans Hornets Take Anthony Davis With First Pick

It should come as no surprise that Anthony Davis was selected by the New Orleans Hornets with the first pick in the 2012 NBA Draft.  Davis is by far the best player in the draft and has the look of a multiple time All-Star for a franchise in need of one.

Anthony Davis dominated at Kentucky and he should find success right away in the league.  His defense is going to be great, but his offense will need some work.  He does have a solid jumper and his free throws are good.  The addition of a couple post moves will go a long way.  He can not just rely on his jumping ability anymore.

The Hornets are going to be the big winners after the draft.  Adding a talent like Anthony Davis is a sure fire way to kick start a team rebuild.  He is a humble guy and a perfect building block for a young team.  You can never have too many young centers and Davis is going to be a beast for years to come.

If the Hornets are able to keep Eric Gordon around, they will be a formidable team in the future.  With a couple of good breaks, they could contend for a playoff spot in a couple years.  They will always play hard, but now they have the talent to beat some teams.  It is a great time to be a fan of the Hornets as they are becoming one of the best young teams in the league.
