NBA Rumors: Dwight Howard Wants Trade To Brooklyn Nets
NBA free agency season officially started at 12:01 AM July 1 and Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard is already creating some of the biggest NBA rumors to hit the airwaves. Howard had a meeting with Magic GM Rob Hennigan earlier Saturday and expressed his interest in being traded to the Brooklyn Nets.
The Nets are in talks with free agent point guards Deron Williams and Jason Kidd who are both leaning toward signing with the Nets after purchasing houses in the Hamptons. Howard did agree to return to the Magic last season and pick up his option but now more than ever it seems that Howard wants to be a Brooklyn Net.
The Nets, however, are not the only team that have expressed interest in Howard. Hennigan told reporters Saturday that “a lot” of teams have expressed interest in Howard but the Magic have no desire to trade him. Then again, it does seem like Howard controls the team and his destiny anyway since Otis Smith and Stan Van Gundy were fired at season’s end due to the Howard debacle.
Trade discussion between the Nets and the Magic involving Howard have been going on for about a year now. Howard was nearly dealt to the Los Angeles Lakers as well earlier in the season. The Nets seem to have their foot in the door when it comes to the Howard sweepstakes but you’ll never know what team could blow the Magic away with a potential offer.
