NBA Rumors: Dwight Howard Could End Up With Los Angeles Clippers
Since free agency has started, NBA rumors have started flying fast and furious. The latest ones involving Dwight Howard have the Los Angeles Clippers trying to put together to a package to pry the center from the Orlando Magic.
Word around the league is that Dwight Howard’s value has fallen because of back injury and the way he handled his impending free agency. One exec I spoke to said that a package of DeAndre Jordan, Eric Bledsoe, and Caron Butler might be enough. Relationship between Howard and the Magic is turning ugly in a hurry.
This would certainly be an interesting move. If the Clippers can keep Blake Griffin and Chris Paul, adding Howard makes them a very tough team to beat. It will be interesting to see how long it takes for the Magic to deal Howard. The longer the wait, the worse the package will be.
The NBA rumors around Howard are picking up steam as more and more teams are expressing interest. Howard has said he will only re-sign with one team, but that has not stopped people from trying to get the center for one year. If you can make a run with Howard, you might be able to convince him to stay with the team longer.
I think that the Clippers would really benefit from picking up a guy like Howard. It would make them one of the favorites in the Western Conference and not many teams could match their top three. Paul would be able to throw lobs to D12 and Blake all day long. Howard would also be able to help cover up some of the weaknesses that Griffin has on defense.
The Howard saga is far from over. So far, there are about five teams expressing interest. I think the Clippers could be the best bet.
