NBA rumors are all the rage these days and the Phoenix Suns seem to be involved in a lot of them. They are close to dealing Steve Nash to the New York Knicks for Iman Shumpert and other pieces. They are also close to bringing in Michael Beasley. For a team trying to rebuild, it makes some sense in the scheme of all the NBA rumors out there.
Beasley was the second overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft. He has never really put everything together but the kid is still incredibly young. He can be an explosive scorer, but he has never became efficient at it. I expect that getting something resembling his own team will help.
Let’s face it, the Suns are going to be hot garbage next season. Getting a guy like Beasley could be a big win if he puts it all together. Remember, he was rumored to be the number one pick for the longest time. The talent is there. Maybe the Phoenix staff can get through to him and force him to play under control.
People may hate this deal but I think that getting Beasley is a perfect fit for a team in need of a superstar. The Suns are going to have some interesting pieces to work with. They should end up in the lottery again and another high pick would help. If Beasley becomes a solid player, that is a huge plus for the team.
A deal seems imminent and I would be shocked if Beasley ends up elsewhere. The fit is just too good. It may be a rough season but there is the chance that it could work out for both parties. If not, dump the whole thing and start over. At least the Suns are trying to get out of basketball hell.
Expect more NBA rumors in the coming days. That is the life of summer basketball.
