Boston Celtics Brandon Bass Signs For Three More Years: Thank God

The Boston Celtics got some great news on the free agent front again. This time free agent starting power forward Brandon Bass has agreed to a new three year deal to remain in Boston. Bass was rumored to be in demand from six other NBA teams, but he knew that he fit so perfectly in the Boston Celtics system that he had to hang around (Ray Allen should also follow suit).

Bass established career highs in points and rebounds last season playing alongside Rajon Rondo and Kevin Garnett. Rondo just seemed to click with Bass as he would find him after Bass moved well without the ball for either his sweet jump shot or an easy basket in the paint. The defensive end was also great for Bass as KG would help elevate Bass’s defensive game by helping him both learn the system and be there as his safety net. The result was Bass was a guy that got great positioning and used his body to bother his man and rotated well to help defend.

The bottom line is it is huge Boston got Bass to come back. The team will be near the cap and trying to get another starting quality power forward would have been near impossible. If Boston is going to compete in 2013, they will need another solid year of production from the power forward spot and Bass is the best option for that to happen.
