Jamal Crawford is going to love playing with Chris Paul. The free agent guard agreed to a deal with the Los Angeles Clippers, which means Ray Allen will not be in LA. Instead, they get Crawford, who can also shoot the rock like no other.
Jamal Crawford is certainly no Allen, but he helps fill the void that LA has had at shooting guard. A guy like Crawford is going to make a living knocking down open jumpers. The 2 guard spot was so erratic for the Clippers last year that a guy like Crawford can only help.
He is a bigger sized two guard, which is also a need for the team. A four year, nearly 25 million dollar deal might sound a bit steep, but it sounds like he had a lot of suitors. Sometimes you have to pay a little extra to get the guy that you want.
I think Crawford is going to be a big part of the Clippers offense next season. He can make open jumpers and he can also create his own shot. Those are two things that are going to be big helps. The Clips took a step forward last year and I think JC can help them advance even farther.
This is what makes free agency so fun. It seemed like the Clippers were dead set on Allen, but they instead make a move for Crawford. I did not see that happening, but I bet it still works out in their favor.
