Nicolas Batum Agrees To Offer Sheet With Minnesota Timberwolves

[blackbirdpie url=”https://twitter.com/APkrawczynski/status/221084098981146625″]

Nicolas Batum just got a whole lot richer on Thursday.  He agreed to a four year 45 million dollar offer sheet with the Minnesota Timberwolves.  The Portland Trail Blazers have said they will match all offers for Batum, but this might cause them a bit of pause.

I am big on Nicolas Batum but this deal seems a bit pricy.  Then again, you do not want Portland to match.  Adding Batum plus Brandon Roy is one heck of a day for Minnesota.  I wonder if those two events are related to each other.

This would certainly be the small forward that the Wolves have been looking for.  I like Batum’s potential and this deal sounds like one that could be good for both parties.  I still think that Portland is going to match but Minnesota is making it hard for them.

I expect Nicolas Batum to have a breakout year next season.  His PER has always been pretty good but I think he finally makes that big leap next season.  Then again, player projections are not my strong suit.  I do think you will find a lot of people that agree with him though.

This could be one of the biggest days for Minnesota in a long time.  They are slowly becoming dark horses for a playoff spot in the Western Conference.  In fact, they could be better than a eight seed.  That would be a certain improvement for the team after the last couple of years.

Archie Goodwin Hits Epic Game-Winning Three

The Phoenix Suns are legit playing without five or six important members of their rotation currently, so guys who don't normally make the highlight reels are getting an incredible amount of playing time. This is the case for Archie Goodwin, who started at point guard in Brandon Knight's absence and hit this improbable three with time running out to cement a 98-95 win. Things haven't been go swimmingly in Phoenix this season, so it was awesome to see Suns fans and players alike enjoy this hard-fought win.

Rondo Perfectly Guesses Atlanta's Final Play

Say what you will about Rajon Rondo, but there's no way to deny that he's an incredibly smart basketball player. Last evening against the Atlanta Hawks, the Sacramento Kings were up by three points with 1.9 seconds left, and Atlanta had one final possession to tie things up. Rondo immediately recognized the play the Hawks had drawn up and directed DeMarcus Cousins to an empty space on the floor where the Hawks were planning to send a player to take a three. Rondo's smarts made the Hawks botch the play, and the Kings held serve for the win.
