NBA Rumors: Minnesota Timberwolves In A Three-Team Trade?

The rumors continue to come fast and furious for the Minnesota Timberwolves this offseason, with the latest scenario being a three-team trade with the Portland Trailblazers and Philadelphia 76ers. Nicolas Batum, who will reportedly sign an offer sheet with the Timberwolves but the Trailblazers can match it, would be headed to Minnesota while 76ers’ guard Andre Iguodala would go to Portland and Timberwolves’ forward Derrick Williams would go to Philadelphia.

Portland seems hesistant to do the trade at this point, and if they bow out the talks could become a two-team scenario with the Timberwolves and 76ers. Minnesota has show interest in Iguodala previously but his contract, which has him slated to make a little over $29.6 million over the next two seasons, is a significant roadblock to any trade. That means more than just Williams would be headed to Philadelphia, which may take the Timberwolves away from the trade talks as well.

Once free agents can officially be signed next Wednesday the pieces of this potential trade could quickly fall into place, or on the flipside just as quickly fall apart. In any case, the Timberwolves look likely to be among the teams that will be front and center in free agency and trade rumors over the next week or better.
