Every now and again a story comes out that makes me laugh my balls off. The story of Ray Allen telling friends that Boston Celtics fans will not take him leaving for Miami too badly and not treat him too harshly because of this is one of those stories. Ray believes that he has built up a full ocean of good will. Ray Allen is one hundred percent insane if he does not expect to be booed mercilessly every time he touches the ball in Boston. He might be booed and heckled in restaurants and around the city should he be foolish enough to show his Judas face around town and he deserves every bit of aggravation he gets because like the freedom of choice that he had to leave the fans have the freedom to let him know what a true piece of garbage that he is.
The fact is Ray is the worst kind of person and that is a phony. I believed Ray was the type of person that understood the history of the game and genuinely cared about his place in history. I believed he cared that he would one day retire a Celtic and have his number hang next to Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett’s numbers. I believed that he truly did not mind being the stretch the floor third option and cared not about touches, but about winning. I was wrong about him and that stings because I so badly wanted Ray the hard working guy that wants to win and push himself as an unselfish player was real. Too bad that was just not the case. Ray’s decision to leave shows that he is nothing more than a spoiled diva that wants it to be about him rather than about winning in a true legacy way like Reggie Miller did.
The warning signs were there that Ray was not what he appeared to be. 2008 say him whine about looks and touches after he struggled in the first two rounds of the playoffs. In 2010 Rajon Rondo during the regular season that included some awful low points made it clear guys were too worried about there own interests rather than the team goals. People think that he was talking about Rasheed Wallace, but the reality was that he was talking about Ray Allen. Ray wanted more shots and the attention. Ray wanted to be recognized for his sacrifices to the point that Doc Rivers always seemed to be stroking his ego with comments to that effect. The team needed scoring off the bench and clearly Avery Bradley was the better player and the team was winning. Rather than except a role on the bench that still would see him play well over thirty minutes a night, Ray pouted privately to the point the stories surfaced. Rondo was right, not Ray Allen in this feud.
Those wretched Heat fans that say he goes to the place that gives him a better chance to win are foolish. If Boston was healthy Miami is sent home. The injured group from last year should have knocked them out (see game two foul no call of Rajon Rondo in front of one the refs that handed you the series). The morons that say Ray was disrespected are absurd. He lost his starting job because Bradley is the better player now period and should start. Reggie Miller came off the bench and so can Ray Allen. He was almost traded is another lame excuse. So was Paul Pierce and he did not cry like a school girl. The Celtics were going to give him a no trade clause and double the money at six million per year. His demands of 9 million a year for three years is absurd for a guy that is 37 and had major not minor ankle surgery. Boston giving him double was not an insult, but he wanted his three year deal so badly he made an awful decision.
The fact is Ray Allen is like that dream girl you finally get to date. She looks perfect and seems great, but in the end you start to see her true faults. After she leaves and realize that you are better off without her. Granted when you see her with someone you hate, you are going to get pissed, but still I would rather not have this kind of scum on my team. He left and turned his back on the Celtics fans, his coach, and his former teammates. The ocean of good faith was nearly spent on disappearing in big playoff games, terrible defense the last two years, and the endless amount of complaints about his role in the offense. The last drop dried up after he left for the wetted Heat. What because you played hurt one time I am supposed to love you no matter what you do? The man is a tool. Ray is going to get an awful lot of deserved abuse in Boston. I will boo him mercilessly. I better not see a tribute video during the game because I might puke. Remember Go Green Or Go Home!!!!
