Kevin Love Is Displeased With Direction Of Minnesota Timberwolves, Wants Roster Upgrade

By Riley Schmitt

Kevin Love could be one of the most underrated players in the league.  He is not flashy like some and he plays up north for the Minnesota Timberwolves.  Not exactly good ways to get noticed.  That being said, Love wants to make the playoffs and is not afraid of letting management know about it.

In an interview with Yahoo! Sports, Love urged Minnesota’s management to acquire the necessary talent to make the franchise a contender. If the Timberwolves don’t start winning this season, Love isn’t sure how long he’ll want to be a part of Minnesota’s future.

Yes, Kevin Love is trying to strong arm the team into making a move.  They could be smart about this or they could make a move just to say they did.  I think that they have to think this through before bending to Love’s will.  The Wolves are my sleeper team this year and I think they should let it play out.

However, they are their own worst enemy in this.  Love agreed to a contract extension but it was not the one he wanted.  I think this sums it up best.

Love will begin his four-year, $62 million contract extension this season, but the deal allows him to opt out after three years. He sought a maximum five-year extension in negotiations before last season, but T’wolves officials balked. Another losing season could change his desire to stay with the franchise long-term.

So yes, the Timberwolves did not give their star player they big extension he wanted.  That was almost the dumbest thing they could have done.  That opt out clause has let a lot of superstars demand trades.

Love might not be happy with the team, but I think he should play the year out before making demands.  Injuries hurt last year, but let the thing play out.  I like Kevin Love and his game but this is a bit too much.  The roster is fleshing out well and they are setting up quite well.
