Lights Go Out During Orlando Summer League Game Between Brooklyn And Orlando

By Riley Schmitt

The Orlando Magic happen to host the Orlando Summer League, which is a great way to get exposure to young players.  The first game of the series saw the host team taking on the Brooklyn Nets.  With those two trying to hook up on a Dwight Howard trade, things were bound to get wacky.  Like the lights going off in the middle of the game.

This is just one of the wacky things that can happen in the offseason.  Summer league games are certainly not the top level of basketball.  The facilities they use are not exactly designed to be the best in the world.  In fact, the Orlando Summer League has had some issues with power before.  I thought they would have that fixed by now.

I think the best part of this whole situation is that it took place during a Nets-Magic game.  If there needed to be any more wackiness between these two teams, this certainly works.  Hopefully that is not a sign of things to come on a Howard trade.  That needs to get done sooner rather than later.

Expect more wacky things to happen during the summer.  Games like this are not designed to be the perfect style of basketball.  They have their niche and a lot of true basketball fans love watching the young players try to show their stuff.  Of course, it helps to have the lights on when you are watching.  Otherwise, how do you know who is who during a game?
