Golden State Warriors Trade Dorell Wright To Philadelphia 76ers
Dorell Wright is one of those sneaky guys in basketball. You may not know a lot about him but he is surprisingly solid at what he does. The Philadelphia 76ers have acquired him in a deal from the Golden State Warriors. The 76ers will send a future pick to the Warriors.
Sixers Insider Dei Lynam reports that the Sixers have acquired 6-foot-9 swingman Dorell Wright from Golden State for a future draft pick.
Wright had sneaky solid averages over 10 points and just about five rebounds per game last season. Wright can do one thing that many on the 76ers roster can do. Wright can actually shoot the basketball with some consistency. Plus, he fits in their model to have everyone be between 6’6 and 6’9. This roster is odd, but it could work.
I actually like this move. It is very under the radar but one that is going to pay dividends. The Warriors are trying to shed salary and rebuild. Wright is a good player but he doesn’t do a lot on that roster. However, you move Dorell Wright to a playoff team and he can do some damage. He would have a lot of suitors on the open market if he were to go there.
Since most basketball people are suffocating under the stupid Dwight Howard drama, a separate move is something refreshing. This move may not get heavy coverage but it could give the 76ers that extra edge they need for a playoff run.
