New Orleans Hornets Trade Jarrett Jack To Golden State Warriors

Tuesday, the Golden State Warriors traded Dorell Wright to the Philadelphia 76ers for a draft pick.  On Wednesday, that deal has expanded to include a third team.  The New Orleans Hornets have shipped Jarrett Jack to the Warriors in this trade.

The Hornets take back the draft rights to Edin Bavcic, which means they really take nothing back in this deal.  I really like this move for the Hornets because they are getting more cap space from this move.  This means that Austin Rivers is going to be thrown right into the fire from the get go.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

If you are looking for a sleeper in the Western Conference, the Hornets are that team.  They have a very young and intriguing core.  They could jell together and become a team that no one wants to play.  In a few years, they could even turn into a title threat.  That involves a lot of projecting, but it is something to look at in the future.

Jarrett Jack is actually underrated as a point guard as well.  I have always liked his game and I feel that he can run the team in Golden State perfectly.  He allows Steph Curry to play off the ball, which is probably a good thing in the long run.  They could try a bunch of different things with some small ball lineups that could be entertaining.

This is the point of basketball trades.  Every team in this deal benefits in some way.  Who knew things like that could still take place in basketball?  Normally teams are trying to one up each other or take incredibly stupid deals for star players.  I’m looking at a certain team in Florida if they sell their center for 60 cents on the dollar.
