Blake Griffin Suffers Knee Injury During Team USA Scrimmage On Wednesday
Blake Griffin and the nation of Los Angeles Clippers fans are holding their breath after Griffin suffered a knee injury during a scrimmage for Team USA on Wednesday. On Thursday, Griffin flew back to LA to have an MRI and meet with team doctors. A diagnosis should be coming on Sunday.
That video does not look great, as all of that contract could have ended up tearing something in his knee. First, he goes knee to knee while a guard splits the pick and roll. Second, he goes up for a dunk and goes knee to knee again with DeMarcus Cousins. There is probably a reason why he ended up having his knee swell.
Blake Griffin just signed a five year extension with the team that could end up being worth 95 million dollars. It would be the luck of the team to have him suffer another serious knee injury. I do not think it is an ACL injury or anything of the sort, but you never know.
In the meantime, Anthony Davis has taken Griffin’s spot on the roster and will play in the exhibition against the Dominican Republic. Remember, Davis is not exactly a clean bill of health either as he is trying to recover from a sprained ankle.
The wait for news sucks, but the Clippers are going to have to wait to see how bad the injury really is. If Griffin is forced to miss any time during the season, it would be horrible for the franchise and its fans.
