NBA Rumors: Houston Rockets Improve Trade Offer For Dwight Howard

By Riley Schmitt

Could we finally get an end to the Dwight Howard drama?  The latest NBA rumors certainly think so because the Houston Rockets have sweetened their trade offer to the Orlando Magic.  If the Magic turn this down, they really do not want to trade him.

Sources told ESPN.com that the Rockets, should they go ahead with their widely reported plans to release starting power forward Luis Scola via the NBA’s amnesty clause, are prepared to absorb the contracts of Jason Richardson, Glen Davis and Chris Duhon — in addition to sending Orlando multiple future first-round picks and recent draftees — to give the Magic an opportunity to wipe their payroll virtually clean for their post-Howard rebuilding effort.

Not only do the Rockets take back all those crappy contracts, listen to what they would give up to Orlando.  The Magic would take back Kevin Martin, Patrick Patterson, Chandler Parsons, Marcus Morris, and the draft rights to the three kids just drafted.  Those would be Jeremy Lamb, Royce White, and Terrence Jones.

I think the Magic would be stupid to turn down this offer.  They would instantly rebuild with young cheap players while getting rid of the dead weight off of their salary cap.  It really is a win-win deal for them.  The Rockets want to go for broke with Dwight.  This is about as broke as you can go.  They either convince him to stay or he walks in free agency.

More NBA rumors about this will continue to pop up but Houston appears to be in the driver’s seat.
