If the rumors that a three-team trade deal between the Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers are true, it would be a best-case scenario for all parties involved. It’s been reported by Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld that Andrew Bynum will go to the Cavaliers, Dwight Howard to the Lakers and the Magic will get an opportunity to rebuild their team with picks and prospects.
The Orlando Magic need this trade to go through to have a competitive team in the future:
Bynum is the first person in the history of people to want to go to Cleveland. Most NBA players attempt to get out of Cleveland. See LeBron James. The Lakers could build their franchise around Bynum in the future but the Cavaliers can do it now. Although, he might be getting the short end of the stick in this deal, its still very lucrative for him. On the other side, there aren’t many places left for Dwight Howard. He needs to go to the Lakers. This Dwight Howard saga needs to end.
There is a good chance that this trade will go through. The Lakers have been extremely effective during the free agency in juicing up their roster to compete with the likes of the Oklahoma City Thunder, San Antonio Spurs and the Miami Heat. They are willing do the work to get this trade done. They are expected to get it done. It comes with the territory of being one of the most successful sports franchises in the last twenty years. The Lakers might be the only team that can get it done. Plus, Kobe Bryant will keep Howard in-check. Howard absolutely needs to play with other major stars.
