Boston Celtics Rajon Rondo Starts Leading This Summer

The Boston Celtics have long looked for star point guard Rajon Rondo to become the leader of this team. The veterans like Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett have many times called this his team. However, there was some immaturity on Rondo’s part early on that led some (Ray Allen) to question if Rondo could truly take the reigns of this team. There have been signs that Rondo was maturing and becoming that guy. Rondo last season had the rookies working out with him during the lockout at times. This year Rondo took another step and made a trip to Vegas to support the Boston Celtics summer league team made up of the young guys.

It may not seem like a big deal, but the fact is Rondo made an effort to take time out of his off season to go down and check in with many of his new young teammates. While he was there, Rondo worked with these guys a little and made himself available to them. He was even on the sidelines of their game offering advise and even injecting his thoughts into the coaches game plan. This act is something that will not be lost on his young guys.

The bottom line is sooner than later Rondo is going to be the face of this team. Bosotn Celtics team President Danny Ainge has already started building around him with a younger cast like rookies Fab Melo and Jared Sullinger, second year man Avery Bradley, and the younger veterans like Courtney Lee and Brandon Bass. This means the Boston success hinges on Rondo leading the way. Moments like this summer league visit show that he is ready to take on the challenge. Remember Go Green Or Go Home!!!!!

Rondo Perfectly Guesses Atlanta's Final Play

Say what you will about Rajon Rondo, but there's no way to deny that he's an incredibly smart basketball player. Last evening against the Atlanta Hawks, the Sacramento Kings were up by three points with 1.9 seconds left, and Atlanta had one final possession to tie things up. Rondo immediately recognized the play the Hawks had drawn up and directed DeMarcus Cousins to an empty space on the floor where the Hawks were planning to send a player to take a three. Rondo's smarts made the Hawks botch the play, and the Kings held serve for the win.
