Could the NBA rumors about Dwight Howard finally be true? It looks like a mega four team deal that sends Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers, Andre Iguodala to the Denver Nuggets, Andrew Bynum to the Philadelphia 76ers and a gaggle of other parts to the Orlando Magic could be happening on Friday.
We have been to this point before. NBA rumors had Howard headed to the Nets, they had him to the Lakers earlier and I have been dreaming this but I thought at one point there was a 15 team trade to send Howard to Russia. That is how nuts this thing has gotten over the last couple of months.
This deal is a benefit to two teams right away. I like this move a lot for the 76ers. Adding Bynum to the squad makes them a lot better than they were going into the trade. They finally would have a superstar instead of a ton of real good parts. Good parts do not win you titles.
I also like this deal for the Nuggets, but it depends on what they give up. Iggy fits in perfectly for them and he should be a big help to them in the long run. His playmaking ability and defense are both net positives.
As far as the Magic and Lakers go, it depends on all the pieces. If Pau Gasol gets moved, the Lakers move down to a loss. Getting Howard is nice but giving up Bynum and Gasol is not so nice. The Magic could end up with a lot of nice pieces or they could end up with veterans that do not help them rebuild.
The NBA rumors around this will be popping up a lot in the next few hours. Leaks will happen but we all hope this thing can get done.
