After already adding D-League star Blake Ahearn to the training camp roster, the Indiana Pacers have announced the signings of two more players with the additions of forward Sam Young and guard Sundiata Gaines.
Young, the young 6-6 wing, has played with the Memphis Grizzlies and Philadelphia 76ers for his career. He has a solid chance of making the team’s roster, as the Pacers have been in need for depth at small forward to back up star Danny Granger. Young has averaged 6.6 points per game for his three-year career so far.
As for Gaines, the 6-1 guard has been a journeyman around the league but is useful as a solid backup point guard. Gaines recently played with the Brooklyn Nets, averaging 5.1 points and 2.2 assists per game. I also believe Gaines can make the roster.
However, with these three signings in the past week now in place, the Pacers head into training camp with 16 players, which maxes out the limit for each NBA team of only 15 players. Look for Gaines or Young most likely making the team with guys like either Lance Stephenson or Ahearn getting cut.
Training camp is going to be an interesting one in Indy.
