The Los Angeles Lakers have signed their second-round draft pick Robert Sacre, the team announced on Friday. No details of the contract have been released yet.
Sacre is a seven foot center from Gonzaga who is expected to add even more depth to the forward position for the Lakers. He will be a great defensive presence for the Lakers as he was a former defensive player of the year at Gonzaga. During the summer league this season, Sacre averaged 9.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.0 block a game.
With the Lakers adding Dwight Howard to the team, there is a good chance that he will be in foul trouble early and often in many games this season. Sacre will provide a solid backup for Howard and will be a defensive force in the lane. With the offensive talents of Pau Gasol, Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash around him, his offensive game should be solid as well as he will have plenty of open looks. This draft pick and signing was a good move for the Lakers and should help them move closer to another championship.
