Russell Westbrook To Adidas?
The biggest news of the off-season for the Oklahoma City Thunder has hit. Seriously. Rumor has it that Russell Westbrook has signed a deal with Adidas after being a sneaker free agent this summer.
Via Kix and the City:
“While there had been rumors of Russell Westbrook leaving Nike this Summer for another brand, adidas Philippines (an official adidas account) may have just put those rumors to bed as they uploaded this picture to their Instagram account with the caption BOOM! #russellwestbrook. As a background, Westbrook has been what is considered a “sneaker free agent” and has been on the radar of several sneaker brands. If this is in fact a definitive confirmation of Westbrook joining the Three Stripes family, he joins a stellar group of Summer signings for adidas which already included Ricky Rubio, Austin Rivers, Harrison Barnes, Quincy Acy, Dre Drummond, PJ3, Dame Lillard, Ty Taylor, and Josh Selby. More to come so stay tuned.”
However, last year Westbrook had his own version of the Hyperfuse line with Nike.
If true, Westbrook will collaborate with Thunder players Perry Jones III, Kendrick Perkins, Daequan Cook, Cole Aldrich and Serge Ibaka as Adidas supporters on the Thunder.
Something hit me when this happened. Does Derrick Rose have any influence in this rumor? In the past week or so, Rose and Westbrok have worked out together. Do you think Rose said something like,”Hey Russ, why don’t you join Dwight Howard and I, and try to make Adidas big?” Hmmmm. Something to think about.
