After 34 years in New Jersey, the Nets franchise has finally made its way to Brooklyn, New York. The Brooklyn Nets now have an owner has been willing to put forth the money to build a quality team. They’ve paired up star Deron Williams with Joe Johnson, Gerald Wallace and Brook Lopez to form a solid core for the next two or three years. Things are looking up for this team entering the 2012 season.
Today, the Nets arena, the Barclays Center, officially opened up for the first time with a concert from hip-hop legend Jay-Z. Everyone knows Hov. Most know him as a multi-platinum selling artist, but when it comes to sports he’s known as part-owner of the franchise and what better way to display the team’s new jersey’s than have the “Blueprint” rapper display them for the first time at the Barclay’s Center.
Looking at the display of away jerseys for the Brooklyn Nets, it’s clear they are going for more of an old-school style look. The colors of black and white aren’t very daunting, but they boast a basketball-esque flavor. The home jerseys are the exact same besides the main color being white instead of the black.
After debuting the jerseys, they are finally available for purchase at NBA.com.
Seeing these should make every one excited about what’s to come during the 2012-2013 season and with training camp underway and preseason around the corner and October 31st arriving extremely fast, like myself, I know the rest of you can’t wait to see these jerseys in live action.
In case you forgot, the Nets open up at home against their crosstown rivals, the New York Knicks on November 1st in front of the world on national television (TNT).
