Chicago Bulls Agree To Four Year Extension With Tom Thibodeau

Tom Thibodeau may be one of the best coaches in basketball but there was a lot of uncertainty about his future.  The Chicago Bulls are notorious for not wanting to lock up coaches for a long term deal but they shocked everyone by agreeing to a four year extension with the coach.  It was announced at Monday’s media day.

Like a lot of Bulls fans, I had some reservations about a deal getting done.  This year sounded like a lame duck year and it would not have shocked me if the team decided to let Thibs go, simply because they did not want to commit to him.  A great job by the front office on getting this done and shutting everyone up, at least for a little while.

It is amazing the type of attitude Thibs has instilled in the Bulls in just two years.  Although this year will be a bit of a struggle, his style of coaching will keep the team competitive.  The Bulls are going to compete night in and night out.  They may run into teams with more talent but they simply will not get outworked.  That is one of the best attributes that Thibs brings.

Right now, this is the best news that Bulls fans have heard in a while.  It was a pretty bad offseason, but it looks like this move is going be beneficial long term.  Hopefully Thibs can bring the team a title in these next four years.  It would be a great way to thank the organization for believing in him.
