Today, was the annual Media Day for the Oklahoma City Thunder, and a chance for players to talk with the media, and pose for the camera. As usual, there was a common theme with Maturity and growth, as well as the “little things” to get improve this season.
Kendrick Perkins talked a lot today, as was a pure candidate to “steal the show”. When asked about his physical problems he said, “Im just taking it one day at a time.” Being the leader he is, he spoke about how the Thunder can improve,
”We must take our maturity to another level. We need to do a better job controlling our actions. Most importantly we need to stay humble, hungry, and at the end of the day just play basketball”
After missing most of last season, Eric Maynor seems to be back. When asked if he is 100 percent he said, “Pretty much. It was a very tough process, but I’m ready to go.”
However, I think the most anticipated press conference was the one of James Harden. And, he basically said what he has since the end of the last season.
“Everything will work itself out, eventually. I have confidence in my agent and this organization.” When he was asked if he thinks a deal will be done by October 31st, he said”Yeah.” Harden had a great summer, but he will continue to improve on his “mid-range, 3 point, post, and defense” this season.
Side notes:
-Perry Jones III said a lot about how Kevin Durant helped him over the offseason
-Is it me or does Daniel Orton look a lot like Russell Westbrook?
-Serge Ibaka on playing the 5:”Ill do my best to do it, I’m a basketball player.”
