Garrett Temple an Emerging Surprise at Miami Heat Training Camp

One of the best stories throughout the NBA is the tale to the young journeyman trying to make a roster.

Lately the story has been personified in a young man named Garrett Temple.

Temple has bounced around between the NBA and the D-League in his two years as a professional basketball player. Before he was signed by the Miami Heat before training camp Temple had played on five NBA teams, two D-League teams, and in Italy. He even played for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2012 Summer League.

The chances of Temple making the Heat roster as a bubble player were listed as slim to none when camp started. Slowly though, with his work ethic and on court play Temple has opened the eyes of head coach Erik Spoelstra, the media covering the Heat, and fans in Miami.

Temple started turning head from his first time on the court in a Heat uniform during the team’s two game series against the Los Angeles Clippers in China. His ability to get into paint and finish, versatility to play different positions, and defense stood out in those games but one unseen area caught Spoelstra’s attention. That was Temple’s decision making as a 6-foot-6-inch point guard.

Since the China games Temple has been in a battle for a final roster spot against Terrel Harris as a back up point guard.

Harris was in Temple’s position last season at camp and showed enough for Miami to pick him over Eddie House. Now he finds himself possibly in the other side of the equation.

Even if Temple doesn’t make Miami’s roster, he has shown enough to prove that he belongs in the NBA.

Gerald Green Throws Down Monstrous Slam On Nets

Gerald Green hasn't been the most consistent player throughout the early stages of his young career, but there's no denying his overwhelming athleticism. Against the floundering Brooklyn Nets this evening, Green showcased some of those said abilities by emphatically throwing down a monstrous dunk, and he caught some major air in the process. If he's ever able to learn how to do it night-in and night out, Green is going to be an All-Star one day.
