GM’s rank Allen Of Memphis Grizzlies Best Perimeter Defender in NBA Survey

Jeff Hanisch-US PRESSWIRE

The General Manager surveys on NBA.com have been released. Every year they ask them several questions on different topics on the league including MVP, best player at each position, best rookie and who will win what division. The Memphis Grizzlies showed up a few times in the survey.

Tony Allen was voted by “best perimeter defender in the NBA” by 33.3% of the GM’s ahead of Lebron James, Andre Iguodala, Thabo Sefolosha and others. This is no surprise as he is one of the best defenders in the NBA and was honored with All-Defensive 1st team last season. He was also 9th in steals, 5th in steals per game and 2nd in steal percentage so his hard work has been noticed.

Other places the team or players were mentioned include:

- Grizzlies voted to win the Southwest division by 3.3% of the GM’s behind the  San Antonio Spurs
- Josh Selby voted Most Likely To Have a Breakout Season
- Marc Gasol voted Which Player is Best at Moving Without the Ball and Which Player Makes the Most of Limited Natural Ability,
- Zach Randolph voted Which Player is the Best Offensive Rebounder and Who is the Toughest Player in the NBA

Shockingly the team received no votes for Best Defensive Team in the NBA. The Spurs received 3.3% of the votes from the GM. Last season the Grizzlies finished 3rd in least points allowed per game only behind the Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls. The Spurs finished 16th behind the Los Angeles Lakers and the Detroit Pistons.
