DeMar DeRozan might be one of the most frustrating players in any sport. He has all the talent in the world but he has never been able to put it all together. However, the Toronto Raptors have decided to grant him a four year, 40 million dollar extension. It is risky but not as bad as it could have been.

I mean, it is bad.  That is a lot of money and it is a big gamble.  However, it is not the worst thing in the world.  It might be like top ten but it is not awful.  This does make the Landry Fields contract look a little bit weird though.  I bet the team wishes they could have a mulligan on that issue.

Anyways, back to DeRozan.  He needs to finally make a step forward.  He has talent but he has not improved since he came into the league.  He plays at a passable level but the Raptors need him to emerge as a threat.  He has not done that yet and now has the security of a long term deal.  It could end up being a very dangerous combination for the team.

It will be interesting to see how this works in the long run.  A lot of people are wary about it but I think it might end up not being so bad.  However, I’ve been wrong before.
