Four Orlando Magic players injured for Season Opener
According to John Denton of OrlandoMagic.com, Orlando Magic center Gustavo Ayon is dealing with an apparent thumb injury, while rookie swingman Maurice Harkless is still in some residual discomfort from a sports hernia.
#Magic coach JVaughn said GAyon out for Fri. DeQ.Jones hasn’t practiced all week, and likely won’t play. And M.Harkless not comfortable yet.

And while newest addition DeQuan Jones is nursing a strained abductor muscle. It was likely head coach Jacque Vaughn would have held Jones out until he has time to settle into the offense regardless.
To be brutally honest, it may not be a pretty outing for the shorthanded Magic against a Denver Nuggets team that is arguably the deepest in the league.
Arron Afflalo will have to rotate in at the three with the absence of Harkless, which should in turn allow J.J. Redick to log some significant floor time. Afflalo could potentially struggle against the Nuggets length at the forward position offensively, but he’s dealt with bigger fish on D.
And while Nikola Vucevic should assume the starting role, it’s expected that Davis will have have to pick up a few minutes at center. How he fairs against their length up front, could be a solid indication of how he will stack up against the other premiere front courts as the main man down low.
Nonetheless, this is a scrappy Orlando Magic team that is desperate to prove that no single player defines a franchise. It also doesn’t hurt that newcomer Afflalo should take the floor eager to make a statement against the team that dealt him.
Injured or not, the Magic are sure to make this one interesting.
