Gameday! (1-2) Toronto Raptors travel to take on the Oklahoma City Thunder (1-2). You know around here we take a look at Gameday Stats every time the Raptors have a game (For a detailed look at the Raps 12-13 schedule click HERE)…Let’s take a look…
OKC is 19-12 all-time vs the Raps.
New Thunder SG Kevin Martin averages 16.5 vs the Raps in his career. He is en fuego from downtown so far. He has made 12 of his 17 3-balls, and at home he has made 9 of 11 from downtown (wow).
Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook combine for 40 points and 10 assists vs the Raptors.
Last season the Thunder beat the Raps 91-75 in OKC. Durant had 23, and the Thunder led by 27 at one point thanks to a 24-0 run that spanned the end of the 3rd quarter to the middle of the 4th quarter.
Jose Calderon led the Raps in that game with 19 points and 6 assists. In his career Calderon averages 8.3 assists per game vs OKC.
Andrea Bargnani has seen his stats decline every game so far this season. He opened with just 16 points vs the Indiana Pacers, then got just 13 vs the Brooklyn Nets, and a measly 10 vs the Minnesota Timberwolves. His shooting percentage is a miserable 32% (yikes). The 7-footer has a grand total of 7 rebounds in these first 3 games (yikes II). Bargs averages 14 points per game vs the Thunder.
Serge Ibaka averages 3 blocks per game vs the T-Dot.
The Raps have 4 players who get playing time that are 6’10″ or taller, yet their leading rebounder so far is 6’0″ PG Kyle Lowry (7 rebounds per game).
Lowry leads the Raps in points, assists, boards, and steals so far. He is awesome. I thought his acquisition was under-the-radar as he is a Dwane Casey kind of player. Lowry also leads the team with 3-point shooting as he has made 8 of his 16 attempts so far.
Landry Fields averaged 3 attempts from downtown per game. In 3 games as a Raptor he has a total of 1 shot from 3-ball range (it missed).
Alan Anderson had 3 total points in the Raps first 2 games, but he poured in 18 in their only win which was their most recent game (Timberwolves).
Jonas Valanciunas is going through growing pains. He had 12 points and 10 rebounds in his debut game, but has just 6 points and 7 rebounds combined his last 2 games.
Scott Brooks has done a great job in OKC. He has a career record of 175-127. In the past 3 seasons his team has improved each year. The Thunder are an impressive 152-78 over the past 3 seasons.
