The Toronto Raptors take on the Dallas Mavericks tonight. You know around here we take a look at Gameday Stats any day that the Raps are in action. Let’s get at it…

Andrea Bargnani is off to a very slow start. His scoring has gone 16, 13, 10, 16. Perhaps a trip to Dallas can get him going as AB went off for 30 in a game at Dallas last season.

Bargs shoots 42% from downtown in his career vs the Mavs.

This is a return to Dallas for Dwane Casey who earned a ring as an assistant to Rick Carlisle. In NFL terms Casey was like the defensive coordinator for the 2010 champs.

Kyle Lowry will be a game-time decision as his ankle is gimpy. Lowry has been a bright spot for the 1-3 Raps. He leads the team in points, assists, rebounds, and steals. (Update as of 1:30pm…Raps announcing that Lowry is OUT for tonight’s tilt).

Dirk Nowitzki will miss this game as he remains sidelined. That is a nice bonus for the Raps as Disco Dirk averages 24 points and 8 rebounds vs the T-Dot.

New Mavs PG Darren Collison averages 10 points and 5 assists vs the Raptors.

Elton Brand has played against the Raps 30 times in his career (all starts). He averages 19 points and 9 boards vs the Raps. (Update as of 1:30pm the Mavs have annbounced that Brand is OUT for tonihgt as his son was just born)

Ex-Rap Vince Carter has played against the Raps 25 times. He averages 21 points and 6 rebounds. Carter comes off the bench for this Mavs team and is currently giving them a dozen points per game.

O.J. Mayo and Collison have made 22 of their combined 32 shots from downtown in 2012. That is 69% from 3-ball range for the starting back-court. That is absolute fire.

In game #4 we saw Jonas Valanciunas play well in a blowout loss to the OKC Thunder. Valanciunas has a NBA-ready free-throw stroke and he went 6 for 6 from the charity stripe (those were his first free-throws of his NBA career).

DeMar DeRozan averages just 11 points per game vs the Mavs (one of his lowest vs any team).

Brandon Wright is giving the Mavs a dozen points per game. He is shooting an eye-popping 79% from the field.

In the first week of the NBA season the Mavs are scoring 108 points per game (Only the Miami Heat are averaging more). The Raps are averaging just 95 points per game so far (20th in NBA).

Despite their 1-3 record the Raps are one of the top teams for creating turnovers, and also a top team for not yielding turnovers. Lowry is a massive part of that so we hope he can play tonight.
