The Cleveland Cavaliers will finish their six-game road trip Tuesday night when they take on the Brooklyn Nets.
This will be the Cavs first visit to the Nets new home, and they come into the game desperately looking for a win. The Cavs have lost their last three games and currently have a record of 2-5.
The Nets, meanwhile are currently 3-2 and have won their last two games.
Both teams are led by their point guards, and this will be a fun match-up to watch.
All-Star Nets point guard Deron Williams has established himself as one of the best players in the NBA, and he is the leader of his team. So far this season, Williams is scoring 21 points per game while passing out 8.7 assists and pulling down 3.3 rebounds.
The Cavs are led by point guard Kyrie Irving, who is quickly becoming one of the best point guards in the NBA. Last season’s Rookie of The Year, Irving is scoring 22.9 points per game while handing out 6.3 assists and pulling down 4.1 rebounds.
Irving and Williams can both be counted on to take big shots, and both players can get to the rim often.
Cavs forward/center Anderson Varejao has also been playing at a high level, and is averaging 13 rebounds and 12.7 points per game this season. He is also passing the ball well on offense and is playing outstanding defense.
His match-up against Nets big man Brook Lopez will be key. Lopez received a lot of attention in the offseason for his offensive skills and improving all-around play, and he is currently averaging 19.2 points per game.
The Nets look to be a much deeper team than the Cavs, and the role players and bench players for the Wine and Gold will need to contribute if the team is going to have a chance to win. Aside from Daniel Gibson, the players on the Cavs bench have not contributed enough in the team’s last three losses.
Rookie forward/center Tyler Zeller played well to start the season in Cleveland, but he has been out with an injury. His absence has hurt the team in the last three games.
The game tips off at 7:30 p.m. in Brooklyn.
