There has been a late report out of Los Angeles where the Los Angeles Lakers have named former New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns head coach Mike D’Antoni. D’Antoni reportedly signed a four year deal with the Lakers.

I like this move for a few reasons: Number one, when point guard Steve Nash returns, he will return to having a coach that helped him win two MVP titles in Phoenix. Number two, D’Antoni runs a team that excels when you have an excellent passing point guard and a very athletic center, and they have that in Dwight Howard which is very similar to what the European teams do and as D’Antoni has coached in Italy he knows about  the FIBA and how they’ve had successes against American athletes. This could be exactly what the team needs, instead of all the talk ofPhil Jackson returning, apparently he wanted a kings ransom to coach his former team, yet again which wouldn’t be good for the players on the Lakers.

It seems like D’Antoni just loves coaching no matter where he is if coaching teams in the two biggest media markets, or overseas in Italy or helping out with Team USA for the Olympics but this is just my take what do you all think of Mike D’Antoni going to the Lakers?
