Orlando Magic Relying Way Too Much On Glen Davis
Glen Davis has been playing some of the best basketball of his life for the Orlando Magic in recent games.
But Davis needs a little more help from some of his friends.
“It felt great for our team,” he said. “We have been battling injuries. To have Jameer (Nelson) back and help us get this win is big…also, for the confidence of our team. Guys like Nik (Nikola Vucevic) and young guys really played well today and finished the game strong.”
“We made stops, that was the thing. We knew if we made stops we could get out and get a good look on the offensive end. There was a great ability for us to concentrate and get stops down the stretch,” said Orlando coach Jacque Vaughn.
For the season, Davis, a five-year pro from Louisiana State, is averaging 15.6 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.
“As a leader I have to do more,” Davis said. “I have to get every rebound and be in every play. In order for us to win I feel I have to and I did not want to lose this game.”
Sunday, the Magic struggled in a 97-86 loss to the Toronto Raptors, and Davis had 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Davis is doing a lot for the Magic. But as his teammates are finding out, they can’t rely on him to do it all.
