Phoenix Suns fans are certainly being put through their paces this season with some very erratic performances, on the eve of thanksgiving they would have been thankful for a comfortable victory against the Portland Trailblazers.

The 114-87 victory according to Alvin Gentry was the most ‘complete’ performance of the season. Heading into the game Gentry felt that he needed to shuffle the pack and in came Markieff Morris and Shannon Brown.

The new starters were productive as Morris knocked down 19 points and delivered seven rebounds whilst Brown added another 10. The victory was a relief for the fans and Gentry as the game went smoothly, something they have not been accustomed to this season and the coach said,

“We never dug ourselves a hole so when we made those runs tonight we went from being up to putting the game in a pretty good position.

“We weren’t making up 10, 15 points and getting to where we were back to even.”

A key element for the win was the performance of Marcin Gortat who delivered a season-high of 22 points.

“We came out ready to play,” Gortat said.

“We had two new guys in the starting lineup and we were a little bit better defensively. It’s a great win but we need to forget about it really fast.

Big performances from more than just the one player has been a factor in the stumbling start to the season, but the victory against the Trailblazers saw performances all around the court. Jermaine O’Neal came off the bench and scored 17 points and Goran Dragic scored 15.

Confidence will be high after the victory which they will need to take into the visit of the New Orleans Hornets.
