Dwight Howard joined the Los Angeles Lakers in the summer for what was the biggest blockbuster trade of the close season.
The highly anticipated trade that was rumored to happen for a couple of years finally happened.
So far the start to Howard’s Lakers career has only had a fluttering of promise that was expected when the superstar arrived at the Staples Center. It has stumbled out of the blocks.
The center becomes a free agent once again this summer and is widely expected by everyone in the league to sign a new deal, especially after these comments.
“From one to 10? I’d give it a good 12. I love it. It’s been a lot of fun,” Howard said.
“Just everything here, from the practices, the motivation of everybody here is championship, that’s what we need…
“I like the direction we’re headed. We’ve had some tough losses but we’ll learn and we’ll grow from it. We’re going to stick together.”
After landing in LA, Howard is relishing the media opportunities that are presented to him and enjoys the fact that the franchise is traditionally one of the top in the NBA.
The Lakers defensively have struggled this season and it continued in the latest defeat against Orlando Magic. Howard’s performances have been all over the place too. It is time for the big center to concentrate on getting the Lakers out of their slump.
