NBA Rumors: New Orleans Hornets On Verge Of Becoming New Orleans Pelicans
I have read about some very odd things in sports over my lifetime but I think I have found the craziest one yet as the New Orleans Hornets are about to change their team name to the New Orleans Pelicans. The Pelicans? Are you kidding me? Is this some sort of joke? No, this is not a joke as Hornets owner Tom Benson owns the right to the Pelicans name and sources say this change is coming as early as next year.
This is the worst team name of all-time by far. This makes it sound like that the biggest thing about New Orleans are the pelicans but we must remember that Louisiana is the Pelican State. How about anything with music but the jazz? The Hornets should have just seen if they could have got the Jazz name back from Utah since the team was originally started in New Orleans. That would make a ton more sense than the Pelicans. I’m trying very hard not to laugh as I type this because this is crazy in so many ways that I can’t even think of.
If the Hornets weren’t a destination of NBA free agents before, this pretty much ends any chance that anyone is going to want to go there. We can all wait for Anthony Davis to have the Pelicans logo across his chest next season. Let’s all take a minute to think about that now……okay I think that’s enough time to wreck your brains. I can only hear announcers trying not to snicker when their team is playing the Pelicans. I only hope Benson reconsiders this.
