Are the Boston Celtics a good basketball team? It really depends on how you define the term. At this point, I can confidently say that they haven’t been very impressive thus far. They do not play with much energy and they haven’t played well on the defensive end. One of the most frustrating parts from their overall team has been the lack of offensive rebounding. They never get an offensive rebound, severely limiting their chances to score extra baskets.
I really think this team needs some sort of a shake up to get going again. Granted, they did beat the Minnesota Timberwolves last night to move to 10-8, but something just seems to be off through the team’s first 18 games of the season. They have lost a number of games at home against arguably inferior opponents and they still haven’t made that statement win of the season so far. They have lost both games they have played against the Brooklyn Nets and gave up a million points in the road opener against Lebron James and the Miami Heat. They have very rarely blown a team out this year, and I will admit, it is very hard to fully dominate a game in this league and win by 20, but we have seen teams do it, especially the Celtics in years past.
This team needs to do something to cure its ineffective play so far this season. No one really looks interested when they are on the floor and very rarely have you heard about a dominant performance from Paul Pierce or Kevin Garnett. They have both been extremely quiet.
The Celtics have been very mediocre to date and something needs to change as the season continues on.
