In last year’s Western Conference Semi-Finals, the Oklahoma City Thunder got over the hump and got the series win they have been dreaming about when they first became the Thunder. Oklahoma City took two at home, got one in Los Angeles, and then went on win the series, 4-1. Finally.

This off-season, the Los Angeles Lakers did everything they could to get the pieces they needed to beat the Thunder and take over the Western Conference once again. And, quite frankly, they did a great job in doing so.

Steve Nash, and Dwight Howard have signed, and are now wear the purple and yellow. However, the Lakers aren’t even .500 this year at 9-10 record, have fired Mike Brown, and have lost to the league’s worst teams in  Orlando Magic, Sacramento Kings, and Portland Trail Blazers.

Even though their struggling, tomorrow’s Thunder vs. Lakers game is a big game. Not only because the Thunder are streaking and trying to extend their six-game win streak, but also to send a message to the NBA, and the Western Conference.

Magic Johnson said that the off-season for the Lakers, “puts (the Lakers) as the team to beat, right there with Miami.”

What about Oklahoma City?

What about the one of the hottest teams in the  NBA right now? What about the team who has been there and done that? What about the team that has the highest scoring duo in the NBA? And the biggest of all: What about the reigning Western Conference Champs?

This will be the first matchup of the two teams, and probably the first one to get a little rivalry started. Let the “Beat LA” chants begin.
