Chicago Bulls Schooling the Los Angeles Lakers

Howard Smith-US Presswire

What happens when you cut the head off a snake? It dies. Right?

Wrong.

Just look at the Chicago Bulls even without their “head” in Derrick Rose they continue to fight, battle, and scrap every night. Rose is out with no definite return in sight so it would be easy for Chicago to mail this season in. Throw in the towel, give up and make excuses, but they haven’t. Instead the Bulls are number one in the Central Division with a record of 12-9; sixth in the league as a team in rebounds, fourth in assists, and third in points allowed.

While other teams like the Los Angeles Lakers are struggling, pointing fingers, and making excuses for their failures the Bulls just keep trucking. Playing hard on defense, never taking a possession off, always believing that they have a chance to beat any team any night. They’re confident, they’re accountable, they’re a team.

The Lakers could learn a lot from the Bulls. In a season where they’re without “the head” and dealing with a slew of injuries they have never complained. They have never whined to the media (Kobe Bryant) or ran from accountability (Dwight Howard) instead they lace up their Nikes every night and give it they’re all. They may not have the big names, or Hollywood status but they have heart which is a lot more than I can say about the Lakers.

Chicago’s effort is to be commended; it’s because of that effort and the willingness of players to accept their roles that they will always have a chance to win games. Will they win a championship this season? Probably not. But that won’t stop them from playing hard every, single night.

Perhaps the Lakers should take a page out of the Bull’s handbook, because right now Chicago is everything L.A isn’t. Hungry, passionate, and confident.

Class is officially in session. Take notes L.A!
