It took some time and a bit of retooling, but things may finally be coming together for the Indiana Pacers this season. Expectations were high for this young team, but changes had to be made for the foreseeable future, right before the regular season started. After a few stumbles, and more than a few sub-par performances, the Pacers seemed to have found their stable ground.
The Pacers began this month by losing three of their first five games. Indiana has since won three games in a row, which is a season-high winning streak for the team. Those three straight wins all came within four days of one another. Inspirational play and a few roster additions have this team looking more cohesive and confident, which is something that has seemed to have been lacking so far this season.
The big issue for this young team is to make sure that they beat beatable teams, instead of playing down to them. Instead of folding against playoff-caliber teams, the Pacers have to prove that they believe in themselves. This deep roster can truly stand toe-to-toe with any team in the league, and they may be asked to prove that sooner rather than later.
Indiana is still at the top of the league in defense scoring against them, but they remain near the bottom of the league in offensive scoring. The Pacers have yet to score over 100 points in their eight games so far this month. The Pacers will play four more games over the next five days, and their season-high winning streak will be tested early and often.
