The Miami HeatNew York Knicks rivalry is back.

During the 1990s the Heat led by Alonzo Mourning and Tim Hardaway had constant battles with Allan Houston and even Jeff Van Gundy. But after a decade of bad basketball there has not been a consistent rivalry between the two popular NBA franchises. The Knicks have won just one playoff game since trading for Carmelo Anthony, signing Amare Stoudemire and signing Tyson Chandler.

Through a month and a half of the season the Knicks have the best record in the eastern conference, Anthony is the MVP and they have blown out Miami twice with one win being in Miami without Anthony playing. The Knicks are the only team still unbeaten at home and have the second best record in the league.

The Heat brought in good veteran players Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis while the Knicks signed veterans  Jason Kidd, Rasheed Wallace, Marcus Camby and Ronnie Brewer. Anthony is second in the league in scoring and has bought into playing defense.

Anthony has won 10 of the 16 regular season games he has played against LeBron James. In the five playoff games they have played against each other both players average27.8 points per game. James may be the best basketball player in the world but he has not played exceptionally well against his close friend, Olympic teammate and draft-mate. Not to mention that Iman Shumpert who has yet to play this season has had success defending Dwyane Wade.

Stoudemire said before last season that the Knicks were coming for the Heat and already this season the Knicks have written new chapters in the match between the two star-studded teams.
