Phil Jackson may not ever want to return to coaching but he has plenty of teams that have tried to convince him to come back. After the Brooklyn Nets parted ways with Avery Johnson on Thursday, the team is trying to make a big splash by going after Jackson. Is he interested in the job?

Sources told ESPN.com on Thursday that the Nets have Jackson atop their list of potential replacements for Johnson and will make a hard push for the 67-year-old, who appeared close to returning for a third stint with theLos Angeles Lakersin November before L.A. unexpectedly gave the job to Mike D’Antoni.

We will see if the Nets are able to get a meeting with Phil.  This roster simply does not look like one that he would enjoy.  Most of the players are overpaid and there is no guarantee that this team can compete for a title.  As much as Jackson likes money, he also enjoys winning.

Deron Williams might be the biggest barrier to this.  Jackson has had no problem handling superstars with big egos in the past, but Williams is a special breed.  He is starting to get a rep as a coach killer and there would be no reason for Jackson to deal with a guy like that.

The Nets will have no objection to paying him a lot of money, but will Jackson really make the jump?  He does love New York so this option is in play.  This search will certainly be interesting.
