The Indiana Pacers will hit the road on Saturday night for the second game of a back-to-back, in attempts to get a season-high winning streak of five games in a row. Indiana has won seven of their last eight games, as well, but still seem to be struggling with putting teams away. As their schedule gets more difficult in the second half of the season, the Pacers will find even more issues when attempting to win tight games.
Even games that end in double-digit point differentials have usually been closely contested for the Pacers this season. For the most part, the Pacers find themselves either climbing back into a game after falling behind early, or letting another team climb back into the contest. Although five of Indiana’s last six wins have come by ten points or more, the games have usually been tighter than the final score would indicate.
Perhaps the win total is overall more important than how the wins come. The Pacers look stronger now than they have all season, and even though some of the wins have been sloppy, at least they are pulling these games out in the end. Their strength and resolve has been noticeable over the last month, and will be important as the challenges increase in the new year. The teams will get tougher, and the Indiana Pacers will need every bit of that strength and energy to overcome what lies in wait ahead of them for the rest of this season.
