At the moment the Los Angeles Lakers are a struggling basketball team and there aren’t any more excuses or sayings that can get them out of it. As of Monday we have learned that Jordan Hill, Pau Gasol and Dwight Howard have all injuries and are going to miss anywhere between two games and beyond.

This is not what the team needed going into its most crucial stretch of the season. The Lakers are reeling right now and are without three of their best players and they all play in the paint.

Howard is out indefinitely with a torn labrum in his shoulder, Gasol is out for the next two games with a concussion and Hill is out with a hip injury he has been battling all year long.

This isn’t the time for guys to be getting hurt with a season on the brink and a lot already at stake. Hopefully for the Lakers sake these guys can get back and make a spirited run to get back into the playoff conversation.

While this is a major blow to a team that has had more than enough problems this year there is a bright spot. Players like Antwan Jamison, Devin Ebanks and Earl Clark can finally get minutes and prove to the team that they can be useful for Coach Mike  D’Antoni. All three of of those players have been sitting on the bench and not playing for the better part of the year, but if they can put together some solid minutes in the next few games it can definitely help the team out.

Right now the Lakers are one or two more events from imploding. It’s hard to blame one or two people but they really need other guys to step up and perform well. These injuries can’t be used as another excuse for a team that has run out of them this season.
