Los Angeles Lakers Have Declared a State of Emergency

Jayne Kamin-Oncea – USA TODAY Sports

First the Fat Boys break up, now the Los Angeles Lakers are falling apart. Quite literally, in fact. The breaking news out of Lakers headquarters today just reported that both Dwight Howard (torn labrum in shoulder) and Pau Gasol (concussion) are out indefinitely. Add to the fact that Jordan Hill is also sitting with a hip injury, and it’s clear that heads are definitely spinning right now around LA, and well, everywhere.

The first week of 2013 certainly has been unkind to the Lakers. The team just took the L last night to the Denver Nuggets 112-105, the Lakers’ second loss to Denver in less than two weeks, their third straight defeat overall and their fourth in five games. All bad, son.

Then there is today’s Twitter talk about an alleged New Year’s Day blowup between Kobe Bryant and Dwight. Sources later tried to say the reports were bogus. Maybe so, but Kobe has been a madman in the media of late. Pau has been openly sulking at his situation. And Dwight has been on TMZ buying Orlando Magic hats and sounding like, well, the Dwight we’ve come to know and loathe. All this adds up to one fine mess, a downward spiral of losses, and now injuries to boot. Not to mention Earvin “Magic” Johnson instigated everything with his hourly thoughts on Twitter on all things purple and gold.

With all this turmoil and the fact that the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, and Oklahoma City Thunder all on tap for the week, what is the over/under on coach Mike D’Antoni at this point? This is an utter embarrassment for Jim Buss. Or maybe it’s like  Mike Brown Unchained. Either way, you can’t call Phil Jackson at this point, not after you dissed him in such a public manner.

So now what? Something’s got to give.

Not cool, LeBron.LeBron throws a fastball at the wrong spot. #ouch

Posted by Bleacher Report on Wednesday, February 10, 2016

On Wednesday night, the Los Angeles Lakers made a fourth-quarter comeback against the Cleveland Cavaliers, but ultimately lost 120-111. Unfortunately, along the way, rookie point guard D'Angelo Russell was struck in the groin by an errant pass at the hands of LeBron James, and ended up on the floor in quite a bit of agony as any man would. Thankfully, after leaving the game for a few minutes, Russell was able to return.

Ryan Anderson Throws Down Savage Dunk On Kobe Bryant

Although Kobe would get the last laugh with the win, his second great performance and the Lakers notched back-to-back wins for just the second time this season, that doesn't stop this Ryan Anderson dunk from being any less disrespectful. The Mamba is in a retirement year, man, let him go out with his dignity still in tact.

Kobe Bryant Rejects Roy Hibbert's High-5 Attempt

Things didn't go swimmingly for the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night against the Chicago Bulls, as they played horribly and lost by 23 points. Kobe Bryant clearly wasn't pleased. When teammate Roy Hibbert attempted to give Bryant a casual high-five, it didn't go over well as an angered Bryant slapped it away in defiance.
